Direct Endorsement Underwriter
Job Description
In this role, you will perform credit and property analysis on government loan files submitted within time frames established by management. Adequately and effectively explain in written and verbal form the decision reached in a manner that will maintain a positive relationship with internal and external customers. Perform timely reviews of conditions submitted, as well as loan resubmissions. Analyze challenging loan packages to determine alternative solutions. Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Underwrite FHA Mortgages
- Approve, decline, or suspend residential mortgage loan submissions and help to identify potential solutions/alternatives for difficult/denied loans
- Maintain working knowledge of HUD underwriting guidelines.
- Work to ensure files are reviewed within established timeframes when heavy periods of volume exist throughout the month
Qualification
- High School diploma
- 4 + years experience in underwriting property and credit
- 2+ years underwriting FHA or VA loans required
- HUD Direct Endorsement designation required
- Must be able to work in a production environment
- Reverse Mortgage (HECM) experience preferred, but not required
- Strong organizational skills
- Good analytical, problem solving, organizational and communication skills needed
- Good computer skills, proficient in MS Office programs
